Custom Rifles

Some prefer a ground-up build, custom from the start. NON-Sheep Firearms is proud to work with Gruning Precision (Riverside, CA) for this purpose. Jim Gruning is a certified Master Machinist and gun builder who's reputation proceeds itself. He guarantees his work to be within MILLIONTHS of an inch! While most rifles are striving for 1 MOA (minute of angle) accuracy, Gruning Precision rifles are regularly under 1/2 MOA. When paired with the right shooter and ammunition, 1/8 MOA is very much achievable. Gruning Precision has been building rifles for law enforcement for decades and Jim's relentless devotion to absolute accuracy is well-known in the tactical community.

With any custom firearm, the foundation rests in a quality action/receiver. For this purpose, we offer two distinct options: Stiller Actions receivers and Remington 700 receivers. In the Stiller Actions, we offer their entire product line; however, recommend the TAC series in short, long or TAC 338 classes. These receivers are of the highest quality available in the world, yielding tolerances far and above most 'custom' actions.

We also offer Remington 700 factory actions. These are great receivers to start your custom build; however, to equal a custom action, they will need to be "blueprinted" to exact tolerances.  Blueprinting a standard factory action is a "standard" custom rifle operation, and can be a cost-effective option, guaranteed to yeild outstanding end-game results. 

Any calibers equivalent to the 338 Lapua or great will require the TAC 338 or TAC 408 (special order) for safety purposes. The ultra magnums generate a great deal of pressure, requiring a stronger action.
